Sun tracking solar concentrator- unique system for renewable energy
Abstract
An SME from Northern Sweden is developing a system that combines production of electricity and hot water from a sun-tracking solar concentrator. The technology is designed to produce the most cost-efficient solar based energy on the market. The company wants to find partners for adapting the system to several possible applications and specific multi-purpose implementations
Description
The system is a combination of solar collector, solar heating and solar panels for the production of electricity. The incoming solar beam is reflected and concentrated with hardened mirror glass. By concentration, the expensive surface materials and solar cells are used in solar collectors and panels are reduced to 1/8 by this technology.
The reflected irradiation continues and strikes the downward facing receivers where more than 50% of the incoming solar light is converted to solar electricity and solar heat. To produce the equivalent amount of of energy a comparable system would require 13m2 of solar collectors and 8m2 of solar panels.
The system is user friendly and easy to install.
Innovative Aspects:
The patented solar tracking algorithm is the key feature of the system, together with the mechanical construction that carries the concentrator.
The innovation converts the sunīs energy to electrical and thermal energy.
The company estimates a large commercial potential for the concentrator on the market, especially because it can deliver energy to the customer to a far cheaper price than comparable conventional sun technology.
The goal is to produce the absolutely lowest price on the market of solar generated energy.
