Innovativ Non Galvanic Connector for power supply and signals
Abstract
A Swedish SME has developed a non galvanic connecting device for power supply and signal transmission. With no galvanic connection the device can operate and withstand harsch environments. One typical application identified is the connector between towing vehicle and trailer. The company is looking for industrial partners to implement the technology in their applications.
Description
The electrical functions for the light devices are today connected from a traction vehicle to a towed trailer through a 7- or 13-pole connector.
The connector is usually placed in a harsh environment, with dust, humidity, snow, chill and salt from the road
Usually the connectiing function is via brass connectors, which after some time in the harsh environment, oxides, corrodes and erodes, creating a malfunction.
With the novel connector, energy and control signals, are transferred inductively between the traction vehicle and the trailer. The connector is generally adaptable for transfer of energy and signals between any two units where galvanic contact would be a problem or not possible at all.
Innovative Aspects:
Robust transfer of electrical power and signals with no galvanic contact.
