Shak Gohir

Enterprise Europe Network Practice Director

Shak Gohir is the Practice Director for the Enterprise Europe Network team for North East England and works for the Centre for Process Innovation (CPI).

Shak has experience in helping businesses and consortiato successfully securing large grants and investments for research and development including businesses operating in the Life Sciences, Energy, Process and ICT sector. Since 2003 Shak has helped clients to secure over €30M worth of private and public finance offers for innovation and new product development including funds from European and national sources.

He is a Non-Executive Director of high-tech start-up Durham Photonics who focus on the commercialisation of emerging Terahertz technologies. He is also responsible for managing DiagnosingDVT a European Framework Programme for developing a handheld mobile medical diagnostic device.

Shak has over 20 years of experience in the process, life sciences, supply chain management, finance, internet, energy and automotive sectors winning commercial tenders and managing large-scale (£10M plus) business critical systems development, integration and support programmes. He has worked for Babcock Energy, Electronic Data Systems (EDS), General Motors (GM), Proxicom and Dimension Data. He successfully completed EDS' highly intensive Systems Engineering Development (SED) programme during 1991.

Shak holds a Masters in Chemical & Process Engineering from the University of Newcastle and was recently awarded in 2004 an executive Fellowship in Manufacturing Management by Cranfield University focusing on global supply chains, international trade, lean manufacturing and new product development.
